Chris Webb's Kilimanjaro Trek: September 2009 http://www.kidneyresearchukevents.org/chriswebb
My message THANK YOU to everyone who supported me and this fantastic charity. I can't believe how much money we have raised! The challenge is now complete - I have climbed Kilimanjaro!! I reached the top! See my journal and picture gallery for more...

My aim was to raise at least £3250 for Kidney Research UK by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - we have raised over double that!

I have got Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). PKD is one of the most common inherited disorders and the fourth commonest cause of kidney failure.

At the same time as raising money for this brilliant charity I am taking on this challenge in memory of members of my family who have passed away because of PKD and for my mum who is currently on the waiting list for a kidney transplant.

So it is from the heart that I say thank you for logging on to my sponsorship web page.

The highest point on Kilimanjaro is Uhuru Peak at 19,341 ft which makes it the tallest free standing mountain in the world. This is what I reached. Due to Kilimanjaro's equatorial location and high elevation, almost every climate type on earth is represented, including a year-round snow-topped summit.
Kidney Research UK is the leading UK charity funding research that focuses on kidney disease. Important scientific breakthroughs are being made all the time, but these can only be sustained with your help.
