On February 1st 2010 I will set off from London to walk the entire coastline of mainland Great Britain, walking 6,824 miles in approximately 8 months! For the entire duration of the challenge I will walk EVERY day, covering between 20 and 40 miles.
In order to attempt this challenge I have given up my job, rented out my home and put my personal life on hold. My brother Andrew has done the same so that he is able to support me through this entire event.
'Amy Goes Coastal' is in memory of our brother Dean, who sadly died in 2005 after a long, painful battle against kidney disease. For Dean there was nothing that could be done to save him - he was too ill to undergo a kidney transplant and his regular dialysis treatment was no longer effective. Dean was just 43 years old when he died.
Please think about this journey I will be taking and consider what steps you can take to help fund the research that could save others like Dean, and spare their families the pain of losing a loved one.
Please take a look at the picture gallery to see some of the amazing sights I have seen so far and follow my progress as I journey around our wonderful coastline.
Updates and more photos can be seen on Facebook at 'Amy Goes Coastal' - please join the group and share in this incredible challenge!
