My message
Hello everyone,
Starting on the 30th June I will be cycling from London to Paris in aid of Kidney Research, hopefully arriving at the Eiffel Tower on Saturday 4th of July! For all those who have asked, don’t worry; I’m catching a ferry across the wet bit in the middle!
Saturday the 6th of December 2008 is the date that will forever be etched in my mind, and the minds of my family. After many years of illness with polycystic kidney disease, and latterly kidney dialysis, my wife Eilidh received the phone call all patients on the kidney transplant list long to receive. A donor kidney was available. Less than a year ago, we certainly could not have predicated the quality of life Eilidh now has thanks to her transplant.
Previously Eilidh’s father and brother successfully received transplants, 30 years and 3 years ago respectfully. Clearly this has had a huge effect on their lives and indeed the lives of the whole family.
Obviously without research none of this would have been possible.
